4) Love People

Loving life is about loving people.

Loving people is not just about caring and cherishing, but also about honour and respect.

We were designed to live out our awesome by loving people because we were created by a God of love.

We are hard-wired for human interactions and social connections. Anger and hatred makes life so tedious, and it just makes you miserable, grumpy, and let’s face it, even physically sick.

Understand that we are all going through the same challenges, it’s just that we are in different seasons on the journey. Just as what you do and your actions do not define you, what someone has done to hurt you is not about who they are.

“And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength. The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.” – Mark 12:30-31 NLT

The Bible makes it clear. To the degree that we love ourselves is the degree that we should love people.

When you start loving yourself and loving life, your heart will extend its arms to embrace all others.

5) Find Your Inner Child

Your inner child sees the beauty in everything. Don’t ever lose that sense of child-like awe and wonder.

Have an inquisitive mind as a child. Ask questions. Take opportunities to discover more.

Be unceasingly curious. Learn about new things. Explore new, better and smarter ways of doing things.

Live out your awesome by doing more of the things you love.

Strive for excellence! Learn your craft well. Study. Train. Qualify yourself. Be the best in what you love doing.

Be as teachable as a child. Always observe how others who excel in your field better themselves. And learn from the failures and successes of those who go before you.

“Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” – Matthew 18:3-4 NKJV

When you start letting your inner child get out every now and then, you will enjoy the ride of life!

6) Don’t Live for the Here and Now

This temporal life is not all there is. Compared to eternity, all of our days is but a drop in the ocean.

Beyond the time we have on earth and beyond our life now, we will continue to exist. Either of two ways – by returning to our ultimate home of heaven, or as exiles in eternal judgement.

Simply put, our life on earth is a temporary assignment. Our time here is not the complete story of our life. But how we spend our time here will determine where we go to spend eternity.

That is why there are eternal consequences to everything that we do in the here and now.

Once you truly understand that, it should radically change your core values. You will begin to live your life differently.

Because then, you will start placing a premium on the things that have eternal value, discarding matters that have no impact on eternity.

This understanding suddenly simplifies the complexities of life. You will change the way you see things, that even some of your big issues will appear trivial and unimportant.

Then you can easily begin to re-align your future plans, goals and activities accordingly.

“This world is fading away, along with everything it craves. But if you do the will of God, you will live forever.” – 1 John 2:17 NLT

“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” – 2 Corinthians 4:18 NIV

Don’t live for the here and now. Major on issues of eternal value.

When you start making life choices in light of eternity, you will be energised and primed for divine purpose and a more meaningful life.

Quote from the book ‘Untamable God’
by Stephen Altrogge

“We have two options. We can settle for a boring, uninspiring, tepid relationship with God, in which we come to church, sing a few songs, and go about the rest of our lives. Or we can pursue God in all His grandeur, glory, and captivating beauty. To choose the first option is a travesty. God is GOD! To settle for anything less than a true, glorious, exalted vision of God is utterly stupid and utterly sinful.”
