What I Love About God

God Loved Me First

This is my story about an Extraordinary God,
who sought me out first
and loved me as
a Father, even before
I knew about Him.

I’d like to share with you my testimony of God’s amazing grace and how He loved me first.

God loved me even before I knew Him, or did anything for Him. That’s what I love about God!

I believe that every single one of us has come to this juncture in our life by some miracle. Whether we’re aware of it happening or not, God brought us here at this point in time, by a series of miracles!

You have been chosen – hand-picked by God, to be here.

Divine Interventions Led Me Here

I find it mind-boggling, that even as we were nestled in our mother’s womb, God already had a plan for our lives. That in the combination of days, months and years, there were a series of destiny moments in God that led us here.

A series of divine interventions happened to me because God wanted to preserve my life – even before I knew about Him.

Because He loved me first, He saved me when I almost died – on three separate occasions.

Grace Covered Me

The first time God saved me was when I was 7yo, when a deranged man wielding a machete came at me.

It was a good thing my reflexes were good at that age. As the blade came down, I quickly turned on my side so it landed and lodged on the wooden fence I was leaning on.

But my reflexes failed me when I faced death the second time when I was in my mid-twenties. Crossing the street deep in thought, I found myself frozen, standing in the middle of the road when I realised that a was car coming straight at me.

Once again, God’s grace covered me and I didn’t die that day. The car screeched to avoid hitting me, then stopped – just right where the front bumper touched my kneecaps.

Grace is the End of Effort

Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or are hungry or cold or in danger or threatened with death?

Even the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”

No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can’t, and life can’t. The angels can’t, and the demons can’t. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can’t keep God’s love away.

Whether we are high above the sky or in the deepest ocean, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

– Romans 8:35-37 NLT

God Loved Me First

Even when I didn’t know Him, God was there! I love that He loved me first, and I thank God that He knew I would be here today.

Because six months later, I was in my kitchen when death almost got me again.  But this time, it would have been by my own hand. I was at such a low point in my life, thinking there was no way out of the mess I found myself in.

So with a kitchen knife in hand, I challenged God, and was screaming at the heavens. I said that if He was real, then He better come down to stop me from killing myself.

No I can’t tell you what happened next because I have no recollection of the rest of that night.

The next thing I remember was waking up in my pyjamas the morning after, surprised that I spent the night on the floor just beside my bed. I have no explanation of what happened!

Destiny Moments

But here’s the good news! Without any context other than the leading of the Holy Spirit, a couple came to my door that day and invited me to a Pentecostal service. So by afternoon, I repented of my sins and gave my life to Jesus.

Yes, a series of miracles and destiny moments brought me here today. That while I was in a lifestyle of sin, Christ died for me and grace covered me. Because He loved me first.

There is Nothing

Now, there is nothing that will separate me from the love of Christ! Neither tribulation, nor distress, nor peril, nor sword.

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come. Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
